MEMORABILIA DISPLAYED AT THE SCREENINGS

These are panels from a glass art mural painted by artists Ernest and Karen Van Leyden. Tyrone Power and his wife, Linda Christian, had commissioned the artists to paint a large mural, comprised of several panels, for their home, celebrating highlights of their lives, including their marriage, the birth of their first daughter, Romina, and special moments in Tyrone's career. The mural took up an entire wall. Among the movies in the mural were Mark of Zorro, Captain from Castile, The Black Swan, Nightmare Alley, Blood and Sand, The Rains Came, Lloyd's of London, Marie Antoinette, and The Razor's Edge. The Mississippi Gambler, the movie that Tyrone had most recently completed at the time the work was being done on the mural, was also part of the mural. Linda was shown interrupting Tyrone's rehearsal of John Brown's Body , a cross-country tour and Broadway play that he did. The two panels exhibited and pictured here are the only sections that are still known to be in existence. One of the panels depicts Linda with baby Romina, against a backdrop of Rome, where the couple was married. The other surviving panel shows the date of Rome 1949, with them holding their marriage license. To read more about this mural, read The Tyrone Powers Pose for Their Portraits.
